A delightfully whimsical production that eschews high-tech gadgetry in favor of more playful stagecraft...Amanda Connors directs the frivolity, as the characters jump about Julia Noulin-Merat's fanciful set, creating walls and doors out of nothing more than lengths of rope, a mop and a ladder or two.

Fly to the Argyle Theatre as fast as you can! Their latest production of 'Peter and the Starcatcher' is the best show on Long Island these days. With a clever book by Rick Elice, expert direction by Amanda Connors, and a troop of the hardest working actors on a local stage, the Argyle's first play with music is pure fairy dust!

This production, directed by Amanda Connors, presented staging as interwoven and complex as the plot itself, with touching moments of connection and warmth quickly followed by intensified, darker moments of loneliness, conflict, or internal struggle. All of the staging was unique and effective, carrying the story from moment to moment, peaks and valleys that flowed smoothly and brought the vignettes of the story together well, allowing the somewhat complicated story to read very well.

Amanda Connors

You made it to the bottom of the site! (Or cheated and clicked "About" and got sent directly to this section). Either way, I'm glad you're here.

I'm a theatre director currently based in NYC by way of Wisconsin, with a few pit stops in other cities on the way. I am searching for opportunities in both New York and around the world. My work as a director involves ensemble, physicality, and simplicity. If the script calls for it, story theatre is a language I speak well.

I'm drawn to both plays and musicals with solid writing, radical inclusion, and stories that want to change our world for the better. Send me your new works or let me reimagine a classic that resonates with events today.  I'll reiterate how much I love the new works process--writers, I want to work with you!

As a leader in the artistic process, I make creating a safe and collaborative rehearsal space a priority. If you're interested in working together, please reach out! I look forward to hearing from you.
