Amanda Connors is a freelance theatre director based in New York City. She is in the 2016-2018 Manhattan Theatre Club directing Fellowship pool, a recipient of the SDCF Directing Observership and an alum of Directors Lab North and Directors Lab West. She is also an actor-combatant with the SAFD and certified in Rapier and Dagger, Unarmed, Broadsword and Knife. She has won best director for her direction of The Facebook Fighter at the SoundBites Festival at Signature as well as for Space Voyage: The Musical Frontier in Wisconsin. She directs mostly new works, both plays and musicals. Her work as a theatre director focuses on ensemble-driven physical theatre to tell universal stories from women’s voices and marginalized perspectives. She has directed at various Wisconsin theatres as well as Signature in NYC, Theatre Row, MTF, the Duplex, SoHo Playhouse, HERE, and Don’t Tell Mama. She has assisted at Second Stage, Signature (in Arlington), the Guthrie, the O’Neill, the Barrow Group, Cal Shakes and others. She has her BA in Journalism and Theatre from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is also an alumna of the National Theater Institute at the O’Neill Theater Center. Resume here.
